Waiting times for children and young people

The charts on this page show the proportion of children and young people receiving a 'full clock stop' within four weeks of referral and the proportions waiting between 1 and 2 years and more than 2 years. The figures can be examined from a national perspective or at ICB level. You can also compare data with up to five other areas.

Exploring the charts: To explore ICBs, click on the tab then click in the box to compare data sets. Missing values for ICBs, either entirely for the data series or for individual data points, are either an indication that no or a very small number of patients were seen during the period covered or that data is not yet being supplied through the Mental Health Services Dataset.

Policy context

The Mental health clinically-led review of standards was published by NHS England in 2022. Among its proposals was the introduction of a four week waiting time standard for community children and young people's mental health services. While this target has yet to be introduced, experimental data has been published on CYP mental health waiting times since 2024.
